Propertymark Regional Conference

Propertymark, the UK’s professional body for estate agents to hold regional conference in Jersey

Propertymark, the UK’s professional body and regulator for sales, lettings and commercial property agents, is coming to Jersey to hold a conference for local estate agents. The event will be on Wednesday 16 February 1300-1615 at the Pomme D’Or Hotel.

Through education and learning, the conference will help maintain high standards and practices amongst estate agents for the benefit of vendors, landlords and the public, and it has been organised by Propertymark’s Regional Executive, Gill Hunt, Director of Hunt Estates.

Out of 40 local estate agencies, there are 21 local estate agencies who are members of NAEA Propertymark. Those attending recognise the importance of adhering to strict codes of conduct and are in favour of further regulation and licensing, which is the subject of a current government review.

Speaking at the conference will be Propertymark principals: President of NAEA (Sales), Liana Loporto-Brown; President of ARLA (lettings), Maxine Fothergill; Head of Qualifications, Michael Smith; Head of Policy and Campaigns, Timothy Douglas.

Local speakers will include Gill Hunt, who will be giving a market update, Helen Ruelle and Katharine Marshall from Ogier Law firm will be informing agents on the latest legislation and Ed Jones Head of Butterfield Mortgages who are sponsoring the conference.

Commenting on the conference, organiser, Gill Hunt, said, “With so many local agencies being set up it is vital that the public are protected against poor service. Like all professional services, estate agents also need to be licensed and be subject to a professional qualification so that we serve our clients properly and protect them.  I am delighted to organise this event that brings over four Propertymark principals”.
